Reeves..Troy..Dazzler..Cress..

Location:
Just outside of Battlestar Genesis….

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] Doreen, the Raptor piloted by Rabbit, launches from the Genesis and just out side goes into idle mood. Positioning thrusters flare, to steady the Raptor, as it prepared its FTL.

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit, I've got your Six LT…you lead the way over."

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] uses a brief stacato of thrusts to waggle its wings at Rabbit as they drift to safe distances.

[Tac1] Actual authorizes jump. Jump when ready.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Copy that, Rabbit, sending coordinates now… spin up and jump on my mark."

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Mark"

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit. FTL ready, jumping on your command.."

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] shows a brief flash and then slips away from its current location.

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] The thrusters of Doreen, flares up as it starts to gain speed in a straight direction out and away from the Genesis and the Station. Then, a flash of light and the Raptor known as Doreen is gone.

The vertigo from the jump settles down after a few minutes. Starry space lays before the Raptor pilots along with the markers that were placed. Outer marker four seems to be having a problem as it doesn't send its signal like the other three do. - Nav charts show they are like a stones throw from the Arm Line - In space terms, that's close enough to spit.

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit, reading some errors on marker four..can't get a proper reading..over."

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Copy that, Rabbit, close in to cams distance for a better look. Will stay high on your six. I don't like being this close to the line. Over."

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit. Wilco.."

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] A few stacato of thrusts, and then Doreen breaks formation as it in a relativly slow speed starts to close in on Marker 4. As it comes close enough, the search light in its fore, lights up and sweeps over the black space ahead.

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] fires up to stay close on Doreen's tail, high and away, as it were, its pilot staying glued to the visuals, and his ECO equally so on the DRADIS, watching for any foul sign, this close to the Line. High above the Doreen, Zero's ship turns briefly, taking in visuals all around, just in case.

Marker Four spits out haphazardly. Whatever it is sending, isn't anything that looks like information. It's 0's and 1's, look more like z's and k's. Along one side, the metal has been crushed inward, like something brushed by it, possibly a rock…

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit..Dazzler, is not reading anything funny on the DRAIDS..The signal on Marker four, well, its rubbish..seems to have been hit by, a passing astroid debrie of the likes over."

[Judge_Ship_205: Genesis] Zero's ship begins to pick up something floating. On the ECO's scanners, it reads back as metallic. It's small, the size of a man's hand and not visible to the human eye.

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] The search light of Doreen fixes upon Marker four once it's in range and the Raptor itself, flares out a few stacatos of its thrusts once again and then comes to a stand still in space. A moment later, it starts to strafe, to the left in a circular pattern around the marker.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Rabbit, Zero - I copy on that damage. It looks like we might have found the other piece up here. This buoy is gonna need an overhaul. I'm gonna step outside and see if I can't recover the debris."

The backside of the Marker shows a little more than just a crushed damage. It looks like someone took an axe and cut a deep swipe into the marker itself. Electronics are visible and sparking under Doreen's light. A piece of metal hanging off.

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit..Did you see that Civilian Contractor, man she is smoking..I mean…Frakk, this Marker is toast..You got visual Zero? Over."

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] It takes two thrusts of the side thrusters, to bring Doreen into a stand still. Its search light fixed upon the gash along the side of Marker Four. Inside ECO Dazzler, frantically works her station to sort out the blurbed signal it's sending.

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] puffs thrusters briefly to close in on the tiny, drifting debris while Zero has Tini, his ECO, double check his helmet integrity. She begins the air flush so they can open the hatch in a moment. Zero laughs in his helmet at Rabbit's comment before he actually keys his com.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "That's a negative Rabbit - can you ID that contractor? And copy - one frakked marker. Tini"

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Tini's bringing in your feed here."

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Over."

The marker can't seem to spit out much that is helpful. It may take an overhaul on the things 'black box' to get anything at all. The gash on the side shows the metal bent inward and the piece that is hanging, doesn't look like it belongs to any part still there.

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves laughs. "You can't miss her..She has as much mouth as she has looks…Frakk, I may have to go bare on this one Zero..you got my six over?"

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] Doreen, hangs there in space like a brick, before its thrusters flares briefly to bring it slowly forth towards the Marker. Inside Dazzler (ECO) checks hers and Rabbit's gear to make sure it is ready for Zero G and the sudden lack of oxygen.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Thats a negative, Rabbit. Stepping out myself here - hold your position while I retrieve this loose debris. Zero out."

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] 's pressure is done and the hatch is popped with just the tiniest bit of pressure left over. Tethered and triple checked, Zero drifts out of the hatch of his raptor, checking visually for the piece he knows to be nearby. Checking slowly and methodically, he works the zones around his ship.

Once Zero makes it out to the piece that is floating, he can snatch it up easily enough. Shiny metallic, but that is about all that can be told from his standpoint.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Rabbit, Zero. Debris retrieved and heading back in. Prep your walk, I'll be inside in 60. Did you get her name? Over."

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit..Roger, preparing walk…And yeah, Manny..She is a Civlian Comm Operator..She is Vato, but she adds up in looks what she lacks in style. over"

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] 's pilot grins as he touches back down in the ship. Tini seals it up and restores the gravity, gradually bringing the air back, and the heat. Troy gets strapped in again and keys his com when he's ready to go.

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] Order given, Doreen positions itself side by side with Marker Four. The starboard wing grazing against the marker. The hatch opens up, and while Dazzler keeps her eye on the inside of the Raptor and the DRAID, Rabbit attached by safetyline makes his way out on the wing. Slowly moving towards the damaged side of Marker four.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Rabbit, Zero - Will have to check her 6 later. I'm strapped in on overwatch now - take your walk. Over."

From Rabbit's standpoint, the buoy is definately space debris. The piece on the side, definately doesn't belong there, but is unable to be dislodged also.

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit..Walking…By the way..Your the CO of the Ares right, consider this a formal request sir..We need to get those magazines back from the Ground Pounders..Stealing all Hawt Chicks with guns..Frakk man, we are men too…No matter what they say. over."

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit..I can't dislodge this foreign object..We should either just, frakk use it for target practise, or bring it in…Perhaps haul it. over."

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "<laughs>Copy that, Rabbit. Drag it in, we'll see what the geeks can figure out with it. And wilco on the magazines. Maybe we hold some of their magazines, the ones that go boom, til they wanna trade. Zero over."

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] Rabbit, standing there on the wind gives a thumbs up in the direction of Zero's Raptor, before he moves back towards the hull of the Raptor. He fiddles around for a moment, and then starts to move back towards Marker four. With him, he brings a thick cable, used to haul in damaged vipers during rescue missions. This time its used to bring in, the Star Screamers next dummy target. First cable attached, Rabbit moves back for number two.

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "If we are to trade, I wont mind a go at that Sergeant of theirs…Frakk, she is hot..Old as my boots, but hot still..I'll call her mami."

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Frakk, Over."

Space is such a quiet place. Sometimes, maybe too quiet. This close to the Arm line would give anyone jitters, but, they are safe for the time being…

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] drifts a bit, keeping visual on the Doreen and its ECO glued to the DRADIS. On their point to point Troy says over his shoulder, "How's it lookin back there, Tini?"

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] Space..
The final frontier..
The Arm line, within spitting distance.
Rabbit standing there on the wing of his raptor, dressed in zero g flight suit now that he has attached the marker to his raptor takes a moment to look out of the empty vast frontier. Suddenly he shifts posture, brings his hands together, bends his knees. Back straight and simulates a golf swing. That done he then makes his way back towards the Raptor. The hatch closes behind him, and the crew of Doreen starts to re-pressuarize.

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit. Marker attached…Will wheel it in closer, for the jump..Charging FTL. over.."

[Tac1] "Martini" Cress says, "Things look fine here, Zero…"

[RAPTOR_215: Cress] continues to carefully watch the DRADIS, her eyes focused on her work despite the guy chatter. No wonder she's been so quiet this trip.

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] jets back away from the Line a bit, just for ease of mind and spins up its own FTL as well.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Rabbit, Zero, copy that. Ready to jump on 1 - 3, 2, - jump."

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] Doreen starts to wheel in the Marker, real close, for it to manage the jump.

[RAPTOR_1122: Reeves] A flash of white light, and then Doreen vanished in the blink of an eye as it jumps back to Genesis.

[RAPTOR_215: Troy] Raptor 215 does the same, flashing into existence next to the Doreen.

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Rabbit, Zero - cargo in tow? Over."

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Zero, Rabbit, call in to Actual, that we've got the ball…put the booze on the table, them geeks are going to go haywire of this..over."

[Tac1] "Zero" Troy says, "Actual, Zero. We've brought home a bad buoy - please advise on where to drop the ball, over."

[Tac1] "Rabbit" Reeves says, "Actual, Rabbit. Prepare for salvaging of bad marker..Coming in for land."
Reeves flies the ship to Battlestar Genesis.

Hangar Bay B Genesis - Deck 7
21 BCH 2085 Souls

The hangar deck is where the Genesis' Viper squadron, and its Raptor detachment are stored, repaired and maintained between missions. Ships land on the flight deck, one level above, and are brought down via massive elevators. Tow vehicles move the ships around the deck, their shrill alert beeps causing an almost constant cacophony of noise. The floor itself is a light gray in color, but wear and tear has left marks and scratches everywhere. Numbered sections are marked off with paint to house the various spacecraft.
The place is surprisingly tidy, with tool chests, machine parts, diagnostic equipment, and even the occasional spare engine or chassis scattered all in their appropriate place. Stairs lead up to other parts of the ship. The fourth side has a large sliding door leading to the flight deck elevators. On the port wall, Vipers are loaded into the launch tubes to be catapulted into space. Raptors take off from the flight deck.

RAPTOR_215 arrives from Grid Alpha.
RAPTOR_215 zooms by overhead.
RAPTOR_215 comes in for a landing.

Reeves is standing outside his raptor, watching the deck crew remove the cables from the marker. He runs a hand through his hair and then looks over towards Cress and Troy and nods his head slowly.
It seems Dazzler is fixing something inside the Raptor.

Troy climbs down out of his raptor, helmet under one arm, the piece of loose debris he recovered in the other. He holds it up to the light to see it shine and then moves to put it with the busted buoy. "Will you look at that… that thing is fried."

Cress slips out herself, pulling off her helmet to reveal her little head sticking out of her almost too large flight suit. She definitely looks like a kid in her mother's clothing sometimes in these things. She looks over at the thing, her brow furrowing…"That's… strange. That's not natural. It can't be."

Reeves chuckles as he studies the Marker and then shrugs his shoulders. "Frakk if I know, natural or not..It was close to the Arms line..could be old debri flying around.." He then nods his head once again towards Troy. "Nice flying El-Tee."

"Nice flying yourself, Reeves, hauling that back. Nice to see your training didn't go to waste." Troy grins and then tosses his piece of debris with a metallic /pang/ onto the cart the deck hands are loading the buoy onto. He turns and gives Tini a gentle shoulder punch. "You ok? I know I hate going out to the Line. Gives me the chills, every time." Big tough guy's afraid of the Line?

Cress waves it off, shaking her head slowly and letting some of her messy, mousy brown hair down from it's tie. "I'm fine… all we ran into was a bouy. Just… strange. I don't know. Doesn't look like debris. I'm going to see if the boss'll let me take it back to study. You think she will?" She looks as much to Reeves as she does Troy with that, though she cannot quite meet Reeves eyes, apparently a bit too shy for her own good.

Reeves sticks his hand into the back pouches of his flight suit and studies both Troy and Cress. "Frak, its not like them tin jars are going to show up…We've had postings for ages and no one shows up..They are all rusty by now…" he mutters and shakes his head. "Your buying El-Tee, you've got Martini a plenty so I figured you'd owe me some scotch for tugging that junk back home…Besides, no other colony would dare to attack us, even if they knew we were about..right?"

"Yeah Reeves, alright, lets go. But you oughta know - I don't /got/ Martini. She's stuck with me. Just ask her - she'd rather be looking through microscopes and what have you." Zero is teasing - he has to give his ECO a hard time, but its all in fun.

Cress wrinkles her nose, shaking her head at both the boys. "You go on, enjoy your… Magazines." She practically rolls her eyes, or that's the tone of her voice at least, "I'm going to see what I can get off of this bouy just so I know I'm being paranoid and we can all sleep at night. If we've pissed another colony off, well… Just go on. I'll be fine." She even gives them a small smile as she heads in the direction of the cart.

Reeves makes a little hump of his waist as he stands there. "El-Tee, all women know you don't need no microscope to watch the goods of Rabbit…Ask -her-" he says with a chuckle and then winks at Cress before he starts to move towards the stairs. "Remember Tini, your a pilot, not a full blown geek…I know, cause your not wearing glasses."

Troy laughs and follows Reeves to the stairs, turning to walk backward a second, giving Tini the 'Please Don't Kill Me Later' shrugs, behind Reeves' back. Turning, he hurries to follow the man. "Move it pilot, I have to get 6 miles in before lunch, still." That man must spend more time on those treadmills…

"Only six, with a stomach like that Sir..I'd make it ten." Reeves mutters as he makes a little dash up the stairs.

Cress laughs faintly, about to say something, but she turns to her work instead.
