The Early Years
Rock Star. What does that really mean? Money. Fame. The ability to do what you want and sometimes get a slap on the wrist. The band was simply known as Calliope. The lead singer Gina Tsarkis was Calliope. She began her first singing career in Aquaria at some talent shows, starting in middle school and working her way up to a highschool band in a garage.
Gina's voice was powerful. It was uplifting and she began her rise to the top. At 19, the band was making tours to any place they could find to play. Whether it be outdoor concerts, indoor bars, fairs, anyone who would hire them. At 20, they finally had a record deal. One record which hit the charts at 79 and went to 62 before falling off.
Nothing was easy for them. Nothing came cheap either. Gina pushed herself harder than anyone, losing band members in the process. By the time she met Cory, she had one person left who stood with her. An old rocker, guitarist, who believed in Gina almost more than she believed in herself. Cory came along, wrote a song, introduced her to some of that good ol' Tauren weed, a few pills and suddenly she was flying.
The song was her first hit - So Long - Coming in on the charts at 20, it rose to number three. For Gina, it didn't get any better than that. It took two more years and it was around that time she met Nicholas. A promoter. She took his advice and they set off for the best and the brightest spots. Stages were set up with smoke and pyroclastic explosions. Calliope hit the stage in slink, leather, tights, flowing shirts, high-heeled boots and belted out some of the most heart-wrenching rock songs of the time.
