NPC in Engineering. Ensign Tobias "Gizmo" Mercer came from a family Viper jocks. He broke a perfect three-generation streak when he signed up for the Engineering Corps after college. He was green, on his first tour out of Officer Candidate School, but he had a lot of enthusiasm and raw talent. He was a natural at aeronautical engineering and had a passion for ship design.

He was killed in action on 79 ACH, working damage control duty when the Genesis hull was hit during the Visser engagement.
