Small Arms Range Genesis - Deck 14
24 ACH 6735 Souls
The shooting range can hold up to a dozen personnel that are working on their firearms skills. Each booth has a scorecard. Buttons in the booth sends the target down a runner and brings the target back. A locker holds some weaponry and is code locked for Officers and marine NCO's only. Ear and eye gear hang within the booths for protection.

Eli comes in from Corridor 14C.
Eli has arrived.
Reed is shooting at a stall, double tapping his shots. He fires twice, pauses, lines up, then twice more, going through his clip determinedly, until he finishes, sjecting the clip.
Eli enters the range are, working on tapping in her code to check out a pistol and extra ammo, jaw set and posture rigid, even when taking down and putting on her ear and eye gear as she slips into a booth, hmphing to herself and loading her weapon.
Reed safeties his weapon, setting it on the table, and turning, "Hello again, Sheriff." He greets. "Something wrong?"
Eli pauses in raising her pistol and squinting at her target, eyebrow raising some as she lowers it and blinks. "I'm sorry sir, hello sir I didn't see you there." A pause. "Wrong? Not really. Idiots make me irritated though." She raises that gun again and double-taps her shots.

Reed turns, taking his weapon, and lifting it, sliding in a fresh clip. "Same problems as last time we spoke, Sheriff? People just not understanding?" He works the slide, and starts firing off single shots this time.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Poor (1).
Eli lowers her gun some as she sighs and shakes her head. "Some people just not wanting to understand. I don't want to look at a fellow soldier and have to know they act like they think like a frakkin' cylon." She sights down her gun again to fire off another two shots, aiming for where somebody's head would be on the target.

Reed nods, "Someone recently said to me, 'You can't fix people. They're not machines.' She was right, sheriff. Sometimes people come around, if you help them, but sometimes they don't, or won't." He aims and fires off a single shot.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Mediocre (2).
Eli's shots are pretty damn accurate as she grits her teeth and listens, taking a deep breath and then another. Reflexively pressing closer though to one side of her booth when Reed fires, eyeing those shots warily. Before looking back to her own target. "Yeah…sir. Sometimes they just…can't I think."
Reed isn't shooting very well, but, he's practicing. That says something, right? yeah? Well, he's practicing, aiming carefully, "You have to feel it inside you, Sheriff, can't or won't. important differance." He takes the shot.

Pting, pew Sparks from a richoet on the target holder.
Eli is busy changing the clip of her weapons, eyebrows raising. "Won't means, however…bad things…" She trails off as the man takes shot and she ducks reflexively even though she's not in danger at the ricocheting and then…blurts out. "…you have never knocked a girl up have you?" - A pause. "…err, sir."
Reed sighs, "Not unless you count that last frakked up shot, no, Sheriff." He doesn't seem offended by the question, but also, the tone of embarrassment caused by the awful shooting also makes his answer ring true. He clears his throat, "Well, okay, improvement is why I'm here. Why do you ask?" He takes a shot
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Great (5).
Eli blinks several times. "Oh okay. Uh. Me either." She just clears her throat and brings up her gun once more, taking aiming. Then she pauses again at the shot, eyes widening. "Obviously it is working…hunh? Oh. Cuz uh, just with the aim and the err. Nevermind sir. Sometimes my mouth says things my brain hasn't translated yet." Then she fires off two more shots.
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Poor (1).
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Good (4).
Reed lowers the gun, "Well, that is improvement." He focuses, "You haven't offended me, Sheriff." He aims again, taking a doubletap this time.

<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Poor (1).
Eli nods slowly. "Good sir, wasn't my intentions in the least. Just took me off guard. You're doing a very…good job. Um." She just fires more shots now.
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Great (5).
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Fair (3).
Reed shakes his head, "I'm doing average, Sheriff, but I'm working on it. It's taking a while, but it's not the center of my focus of duty, so I have to schedule times in, that's slowing me down." He frowns, and lifts his gun, "I count five left." He starts firing off the clip.

Eli looks thoughtful as she lowers and flips the safety on her pistol so she can watch Reed finish that clip, pressing close to a wall of her stall at the first shot and then just staring as she watches the shots and twitches some before nodding slowly. "Well. I see."
Reed shoots a metal hanging clip, and the target a few times, firing off five shots, then the gun is empty. He sighs, "My mental shot count is right, but my aim is still sucking- Sheriff, how much training do you get in MArine boot with a pistol? Is there a set time, or untill you're this frakking good, and not till you are?"
Eli shrugs some as she tries to remember, narrowing her eyes. "I think…you just have to be able to hit a target, both a moving one and one that is still. There are…certain targets and such, with marks and uh. It is a little different. But you typically don't do that well in marine boot if you can't accidentally hit the drill sergeant instead of the target though."
Reed ejects his clip, "I'm sure that they take people who can't shoot at all and make them Marines. But I have to scrape up time to practice between all the other- I'm bitching." He sighs and slaps in a fresh clip. "Sorry, Sheriff."
"…you were bitching?" Eli looks very surprised and confused. "That was…bitching?"
Reed smiles, "Well, griping about why I'm not better at shooting. Bitching. maybe not to Marine quality on the bitchiness scale." He lifts his gun and takes aim.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Fair (3).
Eli smirks and shakes her head. "I'm not that good at things that require alot of smarts. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. If /everybody/ was good at shooting, we wouldn't need marines." Then she raises her pistol to fire off a couple of shots. "…but Marines are bitchier than…well. Ugh."
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Great (5).
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Superb (6).
Reed smiles, taking his aim and correcting it, "I guess I keep missing the really bad Marine moments. Guess it's because I'm on the PAS so much." He takes a shot.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Mediocre (2).
Eli nods sagely as she lowers her pistol to change out the clips with a shake of her head. "There are some moments, we don't let the 'brass' see. Like…when you're in the head. Or naked in the berthings. Or if we fail to do a push-up…"
Reed smiles, nodding, "And I'm a REMF, I know." He holds his aim steady, taking a shot, carefully
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Good (4).
Eli chuckles and shakes her head, raising her weapon once more as she fires at the target a couple more times, licking her lips and clearing her throat.
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Good (4).
<Trait Roll> Eli rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Good (4).
Reed looks pleased with that shot, keeping his aim carefully, "Congratulations, you're the first Marine to not deny the use of that phrase." He takes a shot
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Poor (1).
"Denial does nothing but make you seem guilty." Eli replies softly as she raises the weapon to fire some more. "I mean, I could've said 'I am not a girl." She fires. "I am not a girl." She fires. "I am not a girl." BANG. "All I wanted growing up. But did I still hit puberty?!" BANG. "YES. YES I FRAKKING DID." BANG BANG. - Then she calms down slowly, looking around warily and clearing her through and then pretending like she didn't just say anything.

Reed watches the shooting, nodding, "Seems like puberty did wonders for your aim, though, Sheriff. Still I'm a little old to try that technique, myself."
Eli tugs at her collar and looks down for a few moments, checking her clip and coughing softly. "Well. Feel free to use that um. Mantra, anytime you…like. Sir."
Reed takes up his gun, drawing a bead, "Well, I don't have the experience to put the feeling behind that mantra, but, thank you for the offer." He takes a shot.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Mediocre (2).
Eli pauses before offering slowly and carefully. "…you could try uh 'I'm not a boy.'" She's very helpful, very. Honest.
Reed sighs, "Won't work. I'm a boy, and I like being a boy." He keeps his aim and takes another shot.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Poor (1).
Eli ahhs softly and actually seems to be deep in thought. "Well. You could try 'I am not an eel'?" She's trying, she really is.
Reed looks at his shot, and then laughs, safeting his weapon and lowering it, "Well, that's not going to hold much force in it, I'm obviously not an eel, and I'm glad, you know what the life expectancy of an eel is around here?"
Eli ahhs and then blinks. "Or you could say you /are/ an eel and then be all mad that people want to eat you and put you in questionable stews. Or! They want to roast you. They would like to roast you on a spit and feed you to hungry soldiers and officer with err…"
Reed chuckles, "you're just making this up as you go, aren't you, Sheriff?" He sighs, lifting his weapon. "At least the eel is getting around, and people are eating it. Galley needs to come up with more ways to prepare it, but they're working on that." And he shoots.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Great (5).
"Well yes." Eli finally admits, idly stroking her gun as she watches and listens. "But I'm pretty sure the eels aren't too happy with the…being cooked in creative ways thing…" Then she watches the firing, snapping and pointing. "See! It is working. Be the eel. Feel the rage of the eel. Channel that rage."
Reed smirks, but focuses, imagining the eel, the fluid, flowing eel. He takes a shot.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Fair (3).
Eli is now into it, leaning towards Reed's stall, peering and watching. "At least you didn't miss that time."
Reed settles himself, trying to correct, and fires again. He's concentrating now.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Fair (3).
"Oh good GODS. Hot /dayum/ dudesir! See, that's it. You are actually hitting the target." Eli has set her gun with safety on aside now to concentrate properly here. "They are going to boil you sir!"
Reed tries not to smirk as he focuses, concentrating on the target, trying to lock in on the target.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Fair (3).
"In a particularly foul tasting stew that looks like what the swamp actually smells like…okay, maybe too far." Eli is shifting weight from foot to foot.
Reed keeps his aim as Eli talks. if it's helping, he doesn't say, he's focused into the moment, the target, the gun, and his aim.
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Mediocre (2).
Eli snaps her fingers and shakes her head. "…you're not thinking about eels anymore. I think it was the swamp thing…"
Reed swallows, focusing on his hands, and the line between his gun and the target, concentrating..
<Trait Roll> Reed rolls Firearms and achieves a degree of Terrible (0).
"Okay…sir. Really. You should stop thinking about the swamp. I know it stinks alot but that is not a sensation you should be emulating with a gun…I don't think." Eli grimaces.
Reed sighs, "Well, too late." He lifts the gun, slide locked backward, smoke curling from the chamber, "Empty."
Eli grimaces and just nods slowly. "Well. You did a good job there sir. Practice much more, you'll be shootin' like a marine."
Reed grins, "High praise. I'm working on it, Sheriff." He safeties his weapon and sets it down, "I'm even getting a little more used to the full auto mode." He shakes out his hands, "Never know when that'll be important."
Eli nods slowly, exiting her stall to remove her eye and ear gear, hanging it back up and then working on checking back in her weapon. "We don't know alot these days sir. So always being prepared is a good thing."
Reed nods, taking his weapon, holstering it, and collecting the empty clips, and moving to log in his spent ammo. "Ahh, you get to return the weapon, I get to clean it. which actually I'm good at."
Eli smirks and then pats her own side arm with a shrug. "I rarely use my own, sir." Then there is a hint of a frown as she arches an eyebrow. "You get to clean all the checked back in weapons?"
Reed smirks, setting down the empty clips where they should go, "No." He says, drawing his sidearm, ejecting the clip, letting the slide sction back, and reverses the grip, offering it, empty, to the Sheriff, "CP M57-FA. They don't have these in the check out. Personal gun. Major Gaelan gave it to me along with this belt. Full rig. So, I keep it clean."
Eli chuckles and ooohs softly, reaching out to handle the gun carefully, looking is over and sighting down the barrel before handing it back over, obviously impressed now. "That…is a sweet ass gun."
Reed nods, "On reflection. You are the Sheriff. I have.. while not a unique sidearm, certainly one that is not standard issue. As head peacekeeper, and head of the Military police, you should be aware of this piece of trivia. Might come in useful in the future, sometime." He shrugs, "And it's a sweet gun, indeed. Little heavy, but I've got all the optional extras. Major Gaelan really set me up."
Eli nods quickly. "I am…however you deserve a special gun. The whole…command position like thing." She coughs and then idly scratches her head. "I should be getting back to my berthing now, sir. Do you need anything before I go?"
Reed holsters the weapon, shaking his head, "No, Sheriff, thank you for your.. eel related insights." He smirks, "I'll head back to the PAS and clean out my gun."
Eli snaps off a salute, bowing her head politely and turning to head on her way out. "Good luck sir. And you are more than welcome. Thank /you/."
