Biography
Brief
Dr. Solon Asenov is a Tauronese physicist of some renown, the recipient of several major awards in his field and one of the leading figures of modern Faster Than Light (FTL) science. His body of work includes theoretical conjectures on long jump range limits, and new calculation methods for jumps at the maximum of current drive range (jumps beyond the 'red line' in military jargon).

Pre IC History
Family & Childhood
He was born on Tauron, an only child. His father was a math professor and his mother a technical specialist in the Trade Ministry, their family maintaining an upper middle-class lifestyle. Although his parents cared for, nurtured, and provided for him in every way they could, his childhood was relatively lonely, a product of his accelerated schooling and intelligence.
Education
At a young age, various testing and observation identified Solon as possessing a genius-level intellect, and he was placed in a number of special schools and programs. As a undergraduate university student, he often worked as a research assistant, even advanced coursework failing to stimulate him intellectually. He completed his Doctorate (christening the so called 'T-limit' for FTL range) at the age of 24, but subsequently turned down numerous offers to join prominent faculties in favor of further military contract work.
Military Service
Civilian funding for advanced scientific research was scarce following the First Cylon War, and so many of the research projects Dr. Asenov had worked on, even as a student, had been funded by the Colonial military. Eventually, more interested in pursuit of advanced science than a cushy teaching position, his military work became a full-time endeavor, ultimately accepting a commission in the Colonial Navy Research Division.
