In Brief
Darian Zephyr was born on Picon to parents Galen and Mariana. His mother was a school teacher, his father worked at the Colonial Fleet Headquarters training new recruits. Darian's early years and childhood went by rather smoothly, even though his father wouldn't always be at home, busy with work.
Darian went through his school years in an average school, nothing too prestigious. He would pass his classes with high marks, and did well in most of his subjects. Despite him being a son of a semi-retired Naval Officer, his parents believed that keeping their son down-to-earth would help him so much later in life. As a result, Darian liked to make new friends, and made most very easily. Most of his friends were from average, non-military families.
However, after passing his general schooling and now moving onto higher education, his father offered him the option of joining the Fleet Academy. Darian accepted and worked hard through the Academy. Unlike his father however, he wasn't too interested in becoming a pilot. Instead he concentrated on his other studies, non-piloting studies more.
When he was 19, after graduating Fleet Academy with great marks and successes, Darian went through OCS and graduated the Officer Candidate School at the age of 20 (his birthday having been whilst he was taking the program). He graduated as an Ensign and was posted on Battlestar Genesis when Commander Regas was still a Colonel.
He's been on the Genesis for 4 years now, and was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade a few months after his 23rd Birthday, a few months before the Holocaust. He's sure that his parents are dead, and so there's not much left for him to do, but to do his job, and do it well in honour of their memory.
